Diocesan Museum of Barbastro-Monzón. One of the most visited spots in Barbastro.
Walking up through Barbastro we arrived to the Palace Square, which is just at the beginning of Entremuro neighborhood. Once there, we knew that the Diocesan Museum is the old Bishop Palace (now only used little in that way), which gives the name to the square.
Thanks to our collegue Inés Cuello we learned about Pedro de Ruesta, who was the architect in charge of the restoration of the Cathedral tower. This architect was the same that built the Barbastro ice well.
Following Inés’ directions, we went into the museum and enjoyed an amazing, interesting and instructive guided visit. The museum offers a rich example of the treasures that the county and surroundings had in the old times. Thanks to Maite’s sister showing up (who works there) and Inés’ fantastic explanations, we practised a loooot of English that day.
We also enjoyed a nice art exhibition on the ground floor called “Minimal Orgánica-Aureum” by Irene Val.
